Assam Milk Tea

Have you ever tried this drink called, Assam Milk Tea, by T. Grand? It’s a drink that I love. It can only be found in certain stores and supermarkets.

It’s Assam black tea w/milk of course, this brand is better than any other Milk Tea’s thus far. I’ve been drinking it since my high school years, and it’s still one of my favorite types of milk tea. It’s the perfect blend of tea and milk, neither flavor overpowers the other. Some brands come close to the balance in flavor, but this typical one I prefer.

Best served cold

The only downside I have about the drink, it isn’t sold at the gas stations, quick checks, 7-11, or anywhere else for that matter, only in international asian supermarkets and stores. In Guam, they have them in almost every gas station and store. It was easy to buy the drink whenever you wanted one, but here in the states, It’s hard to find. We have to drive 20 miles to purchase one, so when we’re at the store that sells it, we buy a bunch. Depending in what store you find them, the price ranges between $1.00-$2.00 per item, but it’s worth it, and it’s best served cold.

Camellia sinensis var. assamica

The tea comes from a plant called, Camellia sinensis var. assamica, which has a malty flavour and bright colour tea. I mostly drink the Assam Milk Tea, in the mornings after I have breakfast. It comes in several flavors, the ones I’ve tried are, Assam Strawberry Milk Tea, Assam Black Tea, and Assam Hazelnut Milk Tea. I have yet to try, Assam Chocolate Milk Tea, which I haven’t seen at the stores yet, and if my kids find that it’s over.

Sip and savour

I like to sip, and savor each taste. The milky, malty tea flavor is so good, it makes each sip enjoyable. If you’re going to an international supermarket or Asian supermarket, see if they have it and try it. You’ll never know, It might just be your cup of tea.
