Man and his dog

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.

Leander and I before his walk.

It’s been awhile since I blogged about our dog, Leander…

He is now 7 months old and has grown so much. He still wakes up when my alarm goes off and cries for my attention in the morning before leaving to work. He’s such a loving dog.

I’ve been letting him play in the backyard lately, when I get home instead of taking him out for walks. I’ve been very busy, or to exhausted to walk him, or even have time to sit for a blog.

Yesterday, I decided to take him for a walk since it wasn’t too hot. He gets excited for his walks, sometimes over excited that he tries to drag me to get to his favorite spots. I figured a way to let him just walk instead of trying to drag me along.

I let him waste some energy in our front yard before going for a walk and it seems to calm him down and be less hyper during our walks. He tends to be so anxious when he sees another dog or when other people are walking, yet he’s very friendly and loves the attention he receives from other people, he can’t control himself.

When I know he’s ready to walk

During our walks, he remembers the location of the dogs and where they stay. Everytime we pass by one of the houses, he sits and waits for them to come out. Especially a house with a dog named, Bruno. When they see each other they go nuts.

He also gets wild when seeing new dogs he hasn’t seen walking. I try not to let him get to close because some of the other dogs get to untamed and try to hurt him. Leander gets to riled up that it makes other dogs go crazy.

on the walk.

He jumps around and hugs other dogs just like he hugs me, I think the other dogs get scared and start to get riled up, when they do Leander tries to defend himself. He was a rescue dog so I think he just wants the attention, affection, and security. I always stop him from getting to close for the safety of the other dogs and him

Along the walk we stopped by my in-laws house, because they also have two dogs, we’ve take care of before. As we get closer to the house, he gets super excited and happy to see his friends, he wags his tail so fast, and if it hits your leg it hurts.

After greeting and playing with them we head back home, by then he’s tired and just wants to head back home. His demeanor changes, he’s relaxed, he doesn’t pay attention to anyone walking by, and could care less. He still wants to stop by Bruno’s house just to see if he’s outside, but doesn’t sit long like in the begining of our walk.

After our walk.

As we approach our house he starts to get excited again and just wants to run inside and not play outside. He is such a good dog, a sweet, loving, and playable dog that I love so much!

He’s this man’s best friend.
